Adiaké is a town in the south-east of Ivory Coast, on the shores of the Aby Lagoon, not far from the border with Ghana. The lagoon system here is large and complex, with islands, inlets and narrow strips of land separating it from the Atlantic Ocean. Water dominates the map in almost every direction.
The town itself is a relatively small network of streets along the lagoon shore, with roads leading inland and toward neighbouring towns in the region. Around it the land is green and heavily cultivated, with plantations and patches of forest between settlements. The coastal resort area of Assinie lies to the south, between lagoon and sea.
An Adiaké map poster is as much about water as streets. The irregular shoreline, the open lagoon and the islands form a strong natural composition, with the town settled along one edge.
