Circular outline
The coastline forms an almost unbroken circle around the volcanic cone. It gives the poster a strong, centred composition, with the sea filling every corner of the frame.

El mapa
Alicudi Map Poster & Print
Alicudi is the westernmost of the Aeolian Islands off the north coast of Sicily, and one of the smallest that is inhabited. From above it is almost perfectly round, the eroded cone of an extinct volcano rising steeply from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Houses gather along the eastern shore near the harbour and scatter up the slope in terraces, while the western side is steeper and far emptier.
The island has no roads for cars. Movement happens on foot along stone staircases and mule tracks that climb from the port toward the upper houses, and mules have long carried goods up the hillside. The result is a map with no conventional street network at all, only fine paths tracing the contours of the cone and the old terraces cut into it.
An Alicudi map poster is about as pared back as a place map can be: a near-circle of land, a thin line of coast and a scattering of paths. It suits people who value slowness and isolation, and those who have climbed those steps themselves will recognise the shape of every turn.

Stepped paths
Instead of roads, stone stairways and mule tracks lead up from the shore. On the map they appear as fine, winding lines that follow the slope rather than any grid.
Eastern harbour
Nearly all of the island's settlement sits on the eastern side around the small port. This is where the map gathers its detail, leaving the western slopes largely blank.

Per què Alicudi
Un mapa amb significat
Alicudi draws people looking for somewhere genuinely remote, and those who stay tend to feel strongly about it. A poster of the island is a reminder of a place without traffic, where the day is measured by the climb from the harbour and the light on the water.
Add a title, a subtitle with a year or a name, and adjust the coordinates line to make it your own. The five styles, Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, all suit its simple round form. Order it printed on matte paper or download HD files.
