Ar Raḩmānīyah lies in Beheira Governorate in the western Nile Delta, on the Rosetta branch of the Nile, one of the two main channels that carry the river to the Mediterranean. From above, the town clusters along the riverbank, its streets packed tightly together, with the broad band of water on one side and cultivated land on the other.
The river gives the map a strong natural edge. Its gentle curve contrasts with the straight irrigation canals and drainage channels that divide the surrounding farmland into long, narrow plots.
