Araklı Map Poster
Araklı stands on the eastern Black Sea coast in Trabzon Province, at the mouth of the Karadere, the stream that has cut a deep valley down from the Pontic Mountains. The map is organised by two lines that cross at right angles: the coastal highway running east to west along the shore, and the valley reaching south into the interior.
The town itself is compact, pressed between water and slope. Streets gather near the river mouth and the seafront, then quickly give way to roads that switchback up the hillsides, linking scattered houses and fields. The steepness shows in the drawing as tight curves and thin, winding lines rather than any regular grid.
The surrounding slopes are known for tea and hazelnut cultivation, typical of this stretch of coast, and the upper valley leads toward high pasture country.
