El mapa
Beja Map Poster & Print
Beja crowns a low hill in the Alentejo region of southern Portugal, and the map makes that elevation visible in the way streets curve and tighten toward the top. The old town is a compact oval of narrow lanes, and beyond it the city thins quickly into ring roads, newer housing and then long, straight farm tracks crossing the plain.
The town was the Roman settlement of Pax Julia, and its castle keep is one of the tallest in the country. Beja is also known for the Convent of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, linked to the Letters of a Portuguese Nun attributed to Mariana Alcoforado. These layers of history sit within a street plan that still follows its medieval outline.
A Beja map poster captures the contrast between a close, walled core and the open land around it. The inner streets become a dense, dark cluster, while the surrounding roads draw long, sparse lines outward. The result feels quiet and balanced, much like the landscape of the Alentejo itself.

Medieval oval
The historic centre forms a rounded shape of narrow, winding lanes. Its outline still hints at the line of old defences, now traced by roads that circle it.
Plains beyond
Past the outer districts the land opens into wide agricultural plains. Straight rural roads radiate from the city, giving the print a clean, spacious border.

Per què Beja
Un mapa amb significat
Beja suits people who value slow places: a walled town, a castle on a hill and fields as far as the horizon. A map of it works as a reminder of a summer in the Alentejo or a family home in the south.
Add a title, a subtitle with a date or a name, and a coordinates line to make the poster your own. Five styles are available, from Classic black and white and Noir to Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
