El mapa
Binghamton Map Poster & Print
Binghamton sits at the confluence of the Susquehanna and Chenango rivers in the Southern Tier of New York State. The two rivers meet in the heart of the city, dividing it into distinct sections, and downtown lies on the land between them. On the map, bridges stitch the neighbourhoods together, while steep, wooded hills rise on every side of the valley.
The city grew as an industrial centre in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and the surrounding area is closely tied to the early history of IBM. Binghamton is also known as the Carousel Capital of the World, thanks to six antique carousels in local parks. The writer Rod Serling, creator of The Twilight Zone, grew up here.
A Binghamton map poster is built around the meeting of two rivers, with the Susquehanna curving through from east to west and the Chenango arriving from the north. The regular downtown grid, the bridges and the older neighbourhoods climbing the valley sides form a composition with a strong, natural centre point.

River bridges
Numerous bridges cross both rivers, drawing short bold lines between the city's sections and tying the north side, south side and downtown together.
Valley hills
Wooded slopes rise steeply around the river valley, so the street grid thins out quickly at the city's edges and curves along the contours.
