Borazjan lies on the hot coastal plain of Bushehr Province, inland from the Persian Gulf port of Bushehr, where flat land starts to meet the first ridges of the Zagros. From above the town is a compact area of streets and walled courtyards. Newer, straighter avenues extend around an older core, and palm groves and fields spread beyond.
It is the centre of Dashtestan County and an important stop on the road from the coast into the interior of Iran. The area is known for growing dates, and the green of irrigated groves against the pale, dry plain is one of the defining sights of the region. The town's character is quiet and practical, shaped by trade and farming.
