Boussé lies in Burkina Faso's Plateau-Central region, northwest of Ouagadougou, on the main road leading toward the north of the country. It is the chief town of Kourwéogo Province. On a map it appears as a compact centre of blocks and unpaved streets, with tracks running outward into farmland and bush. The land is flat, so the shape comes entirely from roads and buildings.
Around the town the landscape is typical of the central plateau: fields of millet and sorghum, scattered trees and small hamlets joined by footpaths, with seasonal ponds after the rains. On a detailed map these rural paths form a delicate web that reaches far beyond the town, filling the page with fine lines even where there are no buildings at all.
