Central junction
Roads meet at the heart of the town and radiate outward, so the map has a clear focal point from which the rest of the network unfolds.

El mapa
Buyende Map Poster & Print
Buyende is the main town of Buyende District in the Busoga region of eastern Uganda. The land here is low and gently rolling, running north toward Lake Kyoga and the swampy margins where the Victoria Nile passes on its way west. From above the town is small and open, a cluster of streets around a central junction with roads heading out in several directions.
Most of the map is rural. Tracks link scattered homesteads and trading centres, and the pattern of small farms appears as a loose web of paths rather than a grid. Toward the north, the shoreline and papyrus wetlands of Lake Kyoga bring an irregular edge into the frame, a strong contrast with the dry network of roads further south.
A Buyende map poster is a simple, honest portrait of a young district town, established as the centre of its own district in 2010. It can suit families with roots in Busoga, teachers, health workers and volunteers who spent time here, or anyone who wants to remember a place that rarely appears on printed maps.

Lake Kyoga shore
In a wider frame, the lake's shallow, wetland-edged waters appear to the north, their irregular outline breaking up the landscape of fields and tracks.
Rural track web
Footpaths and murram roads connect homesteads and villages in a loose, branching pattern that fills the poster with fine lines that look almost hand-drawn.

Per què Buyende
Un mapa amb significat
Maps are often made for capitals, rarely for district towns. That is exactly why this one can mean a great deal: a birthplace, a posting, a year of volunteering or the home of relatives far away.
Give it a personal title, add a date or a family name as the subtitle and adjust the coordinates. Choose between five styles, from Paper to Sand, and download HD files for $9 or order a printed poster on matte paper.
