Seine meander
The river bends around the town in one of its wide Normandy loops. Its curve dominates the lower part of the map and gives the design its main sweep.

El mapa
Canteleu Map Poster & Print
Canteleu sits just west of Rouen, on the right bank of the Seine where the river loops through its broad Normandy meanders. On a map the town spreads over a steep slope. At the bottom are the riverside hamlets and quays along the water. On the plateau above are residential neighbourhoods and large housing estates, and to the north lies the Forêt de Roumare.
The riverside hamlet of Croisset belongs to Canteleu. Gustave Flaubert lived there and wrote Madame Bovary in his family house by the Seine, and a small pavilion from the property survives as a museum. From the heights of the town, there are wide views over the river valley and the port and city of Rouen.
A Canteleu map poster shows that dramatic vertical layout. The curve of the Seine sweeps across the frame, riverside streets follow the water, winding roads climb the hill, and the plateau neighbourhoods give way to the dark mass of the forest. It is a composition full of movement and contrast.

Croisset riverbank
The narrow riverside strip where Flaubert lived runs along the water below the hill. It is a thin line of streets between river and slope.
Plateau and forest
Above the valley, neighbourhoods fill the plateau before giving way to the Forêt de Roumare. The woodland forms a broad, quiet area at the top of the map.
