Centurion Map Poster
Centurion sits on the corridor between Pretoria and Johannesburg, and major highways frame its map, among them the N1 and N14, which cross the area and meet near the city centre. Around them, suburbs with curving streets and security estates spread across the gently rolling Highveld. Open grassland, business parks and golf courses fill the gaps between them.
The centre is built around Centurion Lake, formed on the Hennops River, with shopping and office developments on its shores. The city is also known for SuperSport Park, one of South Africa's main cricket grounds, and it has a station on the Gautrain rail line. Until 1995 Centurion was called Verwoerdburg.
