Ciudad Lázaro Cárdenas Map Poster & Print
Ciudad Lázaro Cárdenas lies on Mexico's Pacific coast, at the mouth of the Balsas River, on the border between Michoacán and Guerrero. On a map, the delta is the defining feature: river channels split around low islands, and port basins and docks cut straight lines into the water. The city itself spreads across the flat land beside the port, with a mix of planned neighbourhoods and newer districts.
The city grew mainly in the second half of the twentieth century around a major steel plant and a deep-water port, which is now one of the busiest in Mexico. Container terminals and industrial areas occupy large parts of the delta, giving the map broad, geometric shapes next to the curving natural channels.
A Ciudad Lázaro Cárdenas map poster shows the meeting of river, sea and industry: the soft lines of the Balsas delta, the hard edges of the docks and the grid of the city behind them. The result is an unusual map with strong contrasts between natural and engineered forms.
