Indented coastline
Bays, points and narrow inlets give the island an intricate outline. It looks especially striking at large print sizes, where every cove can be read.

El mapa
Culion Map Poster & Print
Culion occupies the island of the same name in the Calamian group, north of mainland Palawan. The coastline is irregular and deeply indented, with bays, headlands and small offshore islets. The town clusters along the shore, where the land meets a protected stretch of water. Inland, steep wooded terrain leaves room for few roads, so the settled area stays compact and close to the sea.
The island is best known for its past as a leper colony. It was established under American administration in 1906 and for decades was one of the largest in the world. Culion was isolated on purpose, and that isolation shaped the town into a self-contained community with its own church, hospital and institutions. Much of that remains part of the townscape today.
A Culion map poster is mostly water, and that is its strength. The small street pattern of the town sits at the edge of a broad field of white or tone, surrounded by the jagged outlines of coast and islands. The result feels spare and slightly remote, which suits a place whose story has always been tied to distance and the sea.

Compact waterfront town
Streets gather tightly along the shore in a small, dense pattern that contrasts with the empty, hilly interior of the island behind it.
Surrounding islets
Small islands and reefs scattered around Culion appear as fragments of line in the water. They add rhythm to what would otherwise be open sea.

Per què Culion
Un mapa amb significat
Culion draws people interested in its unusual history, divers and travellers exploring the Calamian group, and families with roots on the island. A map of it is less about streets than about a coastline and a community set apart.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with the date of a visit, and pick one of five styles. Blueprint and Sand suit the maritime setting well. The $9 digital files come in six sizes, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF, with no watermark.
