East Northport is a hamlet in the Town of Huntington, in Suffolk County on Long Island. It lies just inland from the village of Northport and the harbours of the North Shore. On a map it is almost entirely residential: a dense web of curving streets, loops and cul-de-sacs, broken by a few straighter main roads that carry traffic across the island.
Much of East Northport took shape in the decades after the Second World War, when Long Island's suburbs grew quickly. The street pattern reflects that period, with neighbourhoods laid out in self-contained blocks around schools and parks. The Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson Branch passes through, and Northport station, which sits in East Northport, gives the map a clear line and a local centre.
