Edakkazhiyūr lies on the coast of Thrissur district in central Kerala, north of Chavakkad. Like much of this shoreline, it occupies a long, narrow strip of sandy land. The Arabian Sea is on one side and backwaters, canals and rice paddies are on the other, and the settlement follows that shape closely.
From above, the map shows a band of houses set among coconut palms, with lanes running inland from the main coastal road toward the water behind. There is no dense grid. Buildings are spread fairly evenly along the strip, and the map's lines are shaped by the beach, the road and the inland channels.
