En Nâqoûra is a town on the Mediterranean coast in the far south of Lebanon, close to the border with Israel. It is widely known as the location of the headquarters of UNIFIL, the United Nations peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon, which has been based here since the late 1970s.
From above, the town is defined by the meeting of sea and slope. The coastline runs roughly north to south, with the coastal road tracing it closely, while side streets climb inland onto the hills behind. To the south, the land rises toward the Ras Naqoura headland, where cliffs drop directly into the sea and the coastal plain narrows sharply.
