Valley streets
The central streets run along the valley floor, where flat land is available. They form the densest part of the map, stretched in a long, narrow shape.

El mapa
Fenshui Map Poster & Print
Fenshui lies in the hilly country of eastern Chongqing, in the region of ridges and valleys north of the Yangtze. The terrain dictates the map: streets follow the shape of the valley, roads curve along hillsides, and the built-up area stretches where the ground is level enough to build on.
Around the town the slopes are shaped into terraces and small fields, with villages and farmhouses scattered across the hills. Rather than a grid, the result is a pattern of winding roads and irregular clusters, typical of the mountain towns of this part of south-western China.
A Fenshui map poster captures a place defined by its terrain. The main street and the roads leading out of town follow the contours, the town packs into the available flat land, and the surrounding hills are traced by tracks and paths. In a minimalist style, these curving lines make an organic and calm composition.

Winding roads
Roads leave town along the hillsides, looping and switching back to handle the slopes. They add strong curving lines that stand out against the compact centre.
Hill terraces
Terraced fields and scattered hamlets fill the slopes around the town. On a wider frame they give the poster a fine, layered texture that follows the land.
