El mapa
Forest Lake Map Poster & Print
Forest Lake is in Washington County, north of the Twin Cities, and takes its name from the lake at its centre. The lake is made up of three connected basins stretching from west to east. On the map they appear as a chain of irregular white shapes with a scalloped shoreline, lined by homes and docks.
The town centre sits on the west side of the lake, near Interstate 35. This is where the highway splits into I-35E, toward St. Paul, and I-35W, toward Minneapolis. The split is visible from above as a clean Y-shape in the road network. Around it, residential streets, cul-de-sacs and smaller lakes spread into surrounding woodland and wetland.
A Forest Lake map poster works because the lake is so recognisable. Its long, lobed outline takes up the centre of the composition, with the road network gathered around it. The lines are dense along the shore and thinner farther out. The result is a map where water and land share the frame equally.

The I-35 split
Near the city, Interstate 35 divides into its E and W branches toward St. Paul and Minneapolis. It is a clear, recognisable fork in the road pattern.
Lakeshore streets
Residential roads follow the shoreline closely, and short lanes end at the water. Together they trace the outline of the lake from inside the town.
