Fukumitsu is in the southwest of Toyama Prefecture, close to the border with Ishikawa, and has been part of the city of Nanto since 2004. On a map, it appears as a modest town centre set in a valley, with streets clustering along the main roads and a river running through the surrounding farmland.
Around the town, the land is divided into the fine, rectangular shapes of rice fields, broken by irrigation channels, small roads and scattered settlements.
