El mapa
Ganghwa-gun Map Poster & Print
Ganghwa-gun is a county of Incheon made up mainly of Ganghwa Island and a group of smaller islands where the Han River meets the Yellow Sea. Its position at the river mouth made it strategically important for centuries, and it served as the refuge capital of the Goryeo court during the Mongol invasions of the thirteenth century.
On the map, the main island is a rugged, compact shape separated from the mainland by a narrow strait crossed by bridges. Mountains fill much of the interior, farmland occupies the reclaimed lowland, and wide tidal flats extend along the coast when the tide is out.
The island is also known for its prehistoric dolmens, part of a UNESCO World Heritage listing together with sites in Gochang and Hwasun. A Ganghwa-gun map poster shows an island shaped by the sea and the river, with roads following the coast and threading between the hills.

Strait and bridges
A narrow channel separates the island from the mainland, crossed by bridges that appear as short, decisive lines between the two shores.
Mountainous interior
The central hills leave large areas without roads, so the street network wraps around them in loops, following the lowland and the coast.
