El mapa
Gulfport Map Poster & Print
Gulfport lies on the Mississippi Sound, facing the Gulf of Mexico. Its map is a long horizontal composition. The shoreline runs straight across the bottom, with the beachfront highway following it closely, and a regular grid of streets extends inland from the coast. A harbour projects into the water near the centre, the clearest break in the otherwise straight shoreline.
The city was founded around 1900 as a railway and shipping terminus, and the Port of Gulfport is still one of its defining features. Gulfport serves as a county seat of Harrison County. Hurricane Katrina struck the coast directly in 2005 and caused severe damage along the waterfront, and the rebuilding that followed is part of the city's recent history.
A Gulfport map poster shows a city laid out along the water: a long beach, a harbour, and a grid that becomes looser and more suburban further inland. In black and white the coastline forms one strong line and the Sound a broad open field below it. It makes a meaningful piece for families on the Mississippi coast.

Port of Gulfport
The harbour extends into the water near the centre of town. Its piers and basins make the most distinctive shape along the coast.
Inland grid
Straight streets run north from the shore in a regular pattern. Further inland they give way to curving suburban roads and larger blocks.

Per què Gulfport
Un mapa amb significat
Gulfport means a great deal to families who stayed and rebuilt, to people who grew up by the Sound and to those stationed here with the military. The coast and grid make a clear, lasting image.
