Hollola Map Poster & Print
Hollola is a municipality in Päijät-Häme that wraps around the western and southern sides of Lahti. From above it hardly looks like a single town. You see lakeshore, forest, fields and villages, with the roads following the high ground between bodies of water. The shapes of the lakes, with their narrow inlets and small islands, dominate most of the map.
The landscape here was shaped by the last ice age. The Salpausselkä ridges run through the region, and roads and settlements have long followed their dry, level crests. The lakes to the north belong to the wider Vesijärvi system. Their shorelines are irregular and heavily indented, so in black and white they appear as bold white shapes with pale borders.
Hollola's medieval stone church, dedicated to the Holy Cross, stands near the lakeshore and is one of the largest surviving churches of its period in Finland. A Hollola map poster works best when it lets that open, watery layout breathe. Scattered houses, curving lanes and the density of Lahti close by give it a gentle gradient from rural to urban.

Roads that follow the Salpausselkä ridges show up as long, gently curving lines. They link villages across a landscape that was sculpted by retreating ice.
Medieval church site
The stone church near the lake marks one of the oldest continuously used places in the area. Its churchyard is a small, clearly bounded shape among fields and lanes.
