Holly Springs lies in southern Wake County, North Carolina, south-west of Raleigh. Once a small crossroads community, it has grown quickly in recent decades, and its map shows the result. A compact historic centre is surrounded by broad areas of curving residential streets, cul-de-sacs and loops. These are arranged around ponds, creeks and green spaces in the rolling Piedmont terrain.
Water and parkland break up the suburban fabric. Bass Lake Park sits near the town centre, creeks wind through wooded buffers between neighbourhoods, and the larger Harris Lake is a short drive to the west. Main roads connect the town to Apex, Fuquay-Varina and the wider Raleigh area and form a loose frame around the subdivisions.
