El mapa
Holzminden Map Poster & Print
Holzminden lies on the Weser in the south of Lower Saxony, close to the border with North Rhine-Westphalia. The town occupies the east bank of the river, with the forested Solling uplands stretching away to the east. On a map the Weser forms a smooth curve along its western edge, and the streets fan out from the river toward the hills.
The town is closely associated with the fragrance and flavour industry. It was here, in the nineteenth century, that synthetic vanillin was first produced commercially, and the company that grew from that work is now part of Symrise, which remains a major employer. Holzminden often presents itself as a town of fragrances.
The layout combines a compact historic core near the river with later residential areas and industrial sites. A Holzminden map poster shows the town between two strong edges, the Weser on one side and the Solling forest on the other, a framing that makes the plan easy to read and satisfying to look at.

Historic centre
Close to the river, the old core has a denser, more irregular street pattern than the newer districts that spread outward around it.
Solling uplands
East of town the streets thin out and give way to the wooded hills of the Solling, a large forested area that frames the map.
