Huai Khwang is a district in central Bangkok, north-east of the old core of the city. On a map it is densely packed. Large blocks are divided by main roads, and between them lies a fine network of sois, the narrow side lanes that branch off the main streets and often end in dead ends.
The main axis is Ratchadaphisek Road, which runs north–south through the district with the MRT Blue Line underneath it. Along it are office towers, hotels, the Thailand Cultural Centre and night markets that draw both locals and visitors. Khlong Saen Saep, one of the city's historic canals, runs along the district's southern edge.
