Hub lies in Balochistan just across the Hub River from Karachi, and on a map the river forms a natural boundary between the two. The town spreads over dry, flat land beside the river, with industrial estates, residential areas and markets arranged along the main roads. Rocky hills rise to the north and west, framing the settlement in a rugged landscape.
The town has grown as an industrial centre, with factories and a large power station attracting workers from across the region. Upstream, the Hub Dam holds back a large reservoir that supplies water to Karachi. The coastline of the Arabian Sea lies to the south, beyond the edge of the town.
