Kuchāman, often called Kuchaman City, is a town in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan, not far from the salt flats of Sambhar Lake. The town is overlooked by Kuchaman Fort, set on a rocky hill above the old town. From above, the dense lanes of the historic centre gather at the foot of the hill, and newer areas spread out across the flat land around them.
The old town is a close-knit network of narrow, winding streets, typical of older Rajasthani towns. The outer districts are more regular, with wider roads and larger blocks. Beyond them, the map opens onto dry, sparsely settled country, crossed by a few roads that connect Kuchāman with the region's other towns.
