The rail spine
The historic railway line sweeps through town in a long curve, and the surrounding streets bend to meet it. On the poster it acts as the main structural line.

El mapa
Mairinque Map Poster & Print
Mairinque sits in the hilly country between the São Paulo metropolitan area and Sorocaba. On a map, the town has no neat grid. Streets follow the slopes, loop around low hills and break into separate neighbourhoods divided by green gaps and small valleys. The overall shape is loose, with built-up areas fanning out along the roads that cross the surrounding countryside.
The railway gave the town its reason to exist, and it still shapes the plan. The old Sorocabana line runs through the centre, and the historic station, designed by the architect Victor Dubugras in the early twentieth century, is often cited as an early example of modern architecture in Brazil. On paper, the tracks read as a long, confident curve that the street pattern has to work around.
A Mairinque map poster turns this uneven terrain into a clear graphic study. Roads that seem random at street level become a readable web of ridges and hollows, and the rail line gives the composition a strong spine. In black and white, the contrast between the dense centre and the scattered outer districts is easy to read, which suits a town whose shape comes from the land.

Hill-shaped streets
There is no imposed grid here. Roads follow contours and valleys, so the street network forms irregular loops and branches that show the hilly ground beneath.
Scattered neighbourhoods
Built-up districts sit apart from each other, separated by open land and small valleys, which gives the map a patchwork of dense clusters and quiet blank space.
