Meudon is a town in Hauts-de-Seine, southwest of Paris, set on the hills above a bend of the Seine. Its map is layered: along the river lies the lower district of Bas-Meudon, and from there streets climb the slopes toward Meudon-sur-Seine, the town centre and the plateau above. To the south and west, the large Forêt de Meudon covers much of the land.
On the heights, the Terrasse de Meudon is a long, straight platform overlooking Paris, a remnant of the former royal château. The site now holds the Meudon observatory, part of the Paris Observatory, whose large dome is a landmark of the hillside. The terrace appears on the map as a clear, geometric shape among the curving streets.
A Meudon map poster also reflects the town's artistic history. Auguste Rodin lived and worked in Meudon in his later years, and his villa is now a museum. The forest, with its straight radiating paths and ponds, gives the composition a quiet, green edge, while the Seine outlines the town to the north.
