Coastal strip
The city follows the Arabian Sea shore in a long, narrow band, and the coastline forms the most important line in the whole composition.

El mapa
Mukalla Map Poster & Print
Mukalla lies on the southern coast of Yemen, facing the Arabian Sea, and its map is shaped by very little flat land. The older town sits on a narrow strip below steep, bare hills, with buildings packed tightly up to the water. Newer districts extend along the coast in both directions, so the city stretches out along the shore instead of reaching inland.
It is the main port and largest city of the Hadramawt region. Photographs of the older quarter often show white, multi-storey houses stacked in rows between the cliffs and the harbour, and the town has long been a starting point for journeys into the Hadramawt valley inland. Fishing and sea trade have shaped the place for centuries.
A Mukalla map poster reads as a long coastal line, with the sea filling much of the sheet and the streets following the shape of the shore. Where the hills come down close to the water, the city thins to almost nothing, then widens again where the land opens. The result is a spare, sharply defined print.

Per què Mukalla
Un mapa amb significat
For people from Hadramawt, living near or far from home, a print of Mukalla keeps the outline of the harbour and the old streets on the wall. Its simple, dramatic coastline also makes it a strong graphic choice in its own right.
Write the city's name in Arabic or English in the title, add a family name or a year in the subtitle and adjust the coordinates if you like. Then choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
