El mapa
Nabire Map Poster & Print
Nabire lies on the southern shore of Cenderawasih Bay in Papua, Indonesia. On the map, the town stretches along the coast, with streets arranged in a loose grid on the flat coastal plain and the shoreline running the length of its northern edge. Rivers reach the sea nearby, and inland the settlement thins out into forest and rising land.
In 2022 Nabire became the capital of the newly created province of Central Papua, a change that has made it the administrative centre for a large, mostly mountainous region. The waters of Cenderawasih Bay, part of a national marine park, are known for whale sharks, which gather near fishing platforms along the coast west of the town.
A Nabire map poster captures a town that faces the water. The long coastline gives the composition a strong horizontal line, and the relatively simple street pattern leaves room for the shapes of rivers and shore to carry the design. It is a record of a young provincial capital at an early stage of its growth, the kind of map that may look different in a decade.

Coastal plain grid
Streets are laid out on flat land close to the sea, forming a loose, fairly regular network that becomes sparser toward the edges of town.
Rivers to the sea
Small rivers cross the plain on their way to the bay, adding thin, meandering lines between the streets and the surrounding forest.
