Naraingarh is a town in Ambala district, Haryana, close to where the flat plains of the north meet the first ridges of the Shivalik hills. From above the town has a compact centre of close-set streets and a market area, surrounded by housing and then by open farmland in regular plots.
The terrain changes quickly nearby. To the north and east the land rises toward the Morni hills, and seasonal streams coming down from them cross the plain in wide, braided beds that are dry for much of the year. Roads between Naraingarh and the surrounding towns and villages follow these contours, straight on the plain and winding as they approach the slopes.
