Nāyudupet is a town in southern Andhra Pradesh, on the plain between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal coast. On a map it is shaped by transport: the national highway linking Chennai and Kolkata passes alongside the town, and the main railway line on the same corridor runs close by. Both are long, near-parallel lines that frame the settlement.
The Swarnamukhi River flows past the town, its broad sandy bed forming a pale, braided band that is striking in a monochrome print. The older part of town is a dense network of narrow lanes, while newer roads stretch outward toward the highway and the surrounding fields.
