Nioko I sits on the north-eastern edge of Ouagadougou, where the capital of Burkina Faso gives way to newer residential quarters. On a map it reads as a patchwork of rectangular plots and straight, mostly unpaved lanes laid out on almost perfectly flat ground. There are no hills or coastline to bend the pattern, so the street plan itself carries the whole image.
The neighbourhood grew quickly as the city expanded outward, and the plan shows it. Tidy parcel grids stand beside looser clusters where houses went up first and surveying came later. Wider roads cut through at intervals and link the area back toward central Ouagadougou. Printed in fine black lines, this mix of order and improvisation becomes the main texture of the image.

A few wider roads run through the grid toward central Ouagadougou. They are drawn as heavier lines that anchor the composition and show how the quarter connects to the rest of the city.
Open edges
Toward the outskirts the blocks thin out into undeveloped ground. The street pattern fades out gradually on the map instead of stopping at a hard boundary.
