Indented coastline
Bays, inlets and headlands surround the peninsula, creating an intricate shoreline that is by far the most dramatic element of the poster.

El mapa
Ongjin Map Poster & Print
Ongjin is the seat of Ongjin County in South Hwanghae Province, on a peninsula that reaches into the Yellow Sea in North Korea's far southwest. From above, the coastline dominates. Deep inlets, headlands and tidal flats wrap around the land, and the town itself sits as a compact grid of streets close to the water.
The peninsula's position has long made it significant. Before the Korean War it lay just south of the 38th parallel, cut off by sea from the rest of the southern zone, and fighting on the Ongjin peninsula was among the first of the war in June 1950. Today the nearby maritime boundary makes these waters some of the most closely watched in the region.
An Ongjin map poster turns this complex coastline into a striking graphic composition. Roads follow the shore and cross low hills toward inland villages, and farm fields fill the flatter ground. For people with family roots in the region, and for anyone drawn to the geography of the Korean peninsula, it is a quiet, meaningful image.

Yellow Sea shallows
Wide, shallow areas typical of the Yellow Sea line the coast. They soften the boundary between land and water and give the map a subtle texture.
Compact town grid
The town forms a small, orderly cluster of streets near the shore, with roads running out along the coast and inland across the peninsula.
