Orhangazi lies in Bursa Province in northwest Turkey, at the western end of Lake İznik. The town takes its name from Orhan Gazi, the second Ottoman ruler, and on a map it sits on a plain between the lake and the hills that separate it from the Gulf of Gemlik to the west.
The street pattern is moderately dense at the centre and loosens toward the edges, where housing gives way to fields and orchards. The lake shore lies just beyond the town, a long, smooth line that contrasts with the more intricate network of streets and farm roads inland.
