Oukaïmeden sits on a high plateau in Morocco's High Atlas, some 75 kilometres south of Marrakech. It is a small place, a few hotels, chalets and a village settlement gathered at the foot of the slopes, surrounded by open grazing land and rocky peaks. Seen from above, the map is dominated by terrain: long ridges, broad hollows and the thin line of the road coming up from the valley.
Its chairlift climbs to around 3,200 metres, often cited as one of the highest in Africa, and in a good winter the resort draws skiers from Marrakech and further afield. Snow is irregular, and in other seasons the plateau is used as summer pasture by Berber herders. An Oukaïmeden map poster shows this dual life simply, with little built form and a great deal of open mountain.
The plateau is also known for prehistoric rock engravings, carved into boulders across the area and depicting animals, weapons and symbols. They do not appear on a street map, but they are part of why the place is visited outside the ski season. On the poster, the quiet spread of contour and track gives a sense of how remote and elevated this corner of the Atlas feels.

High plateau basin
The resort sits in a broad upland hollow ringed by peaks. Its buildings form a small, loose cluster, dwarfed by the surrounding terrain that fills most of the map.
Summit lift line
The chairlift runs up toward the high ridge above the plateau. A single straight line on the poster, it links the modest base with some of the highest skiable ground in Africa.
