The pass corridor
The main road runs through the town as it climbs between the coast and the highlands. It forms the spine of the map, with most streets branching off it.

El mapa
Padangpanjang Map Poster & Print
Seen from above, Padangpanjang stretches along a mountain corridor instead of spreading out in rings. Its streets follow the main road that climbs from the coast toward the Minangkabau highlands, with neighbourhoods branching into the slopes on either side. Green volcanic flanks close in on the town, and the built-up area looks like a narrow thread through the gap between the peaks.
The town lies between Mount Marapi and Mount Singgalang, at an altitude that gives it a cool, wet climate. It is often called the city of rain. Padangpanjang is also known for its Islamic schools and has long been a centre of religious education in West Sumatra. The road through the town links Padang on the coast with Bukittinggi farther north.
A Padangpanjang map poster captures a place defined by its setting. The street network is modest, but the way it bends to fit the terrain gives the print a clear, organic line. In a minimal style, the curves of the pass road and the scattered lanes climbing uphill feel more like a mountain drawing than a city plan.

Between two volcanoes
Mount Marapi and Mount Singgalang rise on either side of the town. Their slopes limit how far the streets can spread and give the layout its long, narrow shape.
Hillside lanes
Away from the main road, smaller lanes wind up and down the slopes in irregular loops. They add fine, uneven texture to the edges of the print.
