Planned streets
Residential streets and plots are laid out in a regular, closely spaced pattern. At poster scale, this creates a dense, even texture that defines the township.

El mapa
Phomolong Map Poster & Print
Phomolong is a township in the Free State province of South Africa, on the open grassland of the Highveld. Like many South African townships, it was laid out in a planned way. Its map shows rows of streets and closely spaced plots in a regular pattern, with a few main roads carrying traffic through the neighbourhood.
The surrounding land is flat and wide, a mix of farmland and open veld. Roads connect Phomolong with the neighbouring town and with the Free State goldfields region further afield. Schools, churches, sports fields and small open spaces break up the housing blocks.
A Phomolong map poster shows the character of the place in clean lines. In monochrome, the tight street pattern forms a textured block, clearly separated from the empty Highveld around it. It suits residents, former residents and anyone who wants the actual layout of home on the wall.

Main roads
A few wider roads cross the township and connect it with the neighbouring town. They stand out as the main lines of the composition and divide the housing blocks.
Open Highveld
Flat grassland and farmland surround the settlement on all sides. This open space gives the map a clear edge and a calm balance around the streets.
