Porto de Mós is on the western Algarve coast, just beyond Lagos. From above, the most noticeable thing is the coastline itself. Land drops sharply into the ocean, and a curve of beach sits between headlands of eroded rock. The streets behind it are not a dense urban grid. They are a looser arrangement of roads, villas and holiday houses spreading over the rising ground.
East of here the coast turns toward the Ponta da Piedade headland and the historic centre of Lagos. To the west the cliffs run on toward Luz. Inland, the landscape is dry hillside cut by a few roads that lead down to the sea. The contrast is strong: dark land on one side, open water on the other.

Eastward, the coastline gets ragged and rocky as it approaches Ponta da Piedade near Lagos. On the poster this appears as a finely broken edge against the water.
