Saint-Jean-de-Braye adjoins Orléans to the east, spreading back from the north bank of the Loire in the Loiret department. On a map its southern edge is set by the river and by the Canal d'Orléans, which runs beside the Loire here on its final stretch into the city. The small river Bionne winds through the town toward the Loire, and the banks of the Loire itself, within the Loire Valley area listed by UNESCO, carry long riverside paths.
