Shepparton is a regional city in northern Victoria, in the Goulburn Valley. It stands near the point where the Broken River meets the Goulburn River. The rivers approach in winding, forested bends across otherwise very flat country, and their loops and billabongs make the most expressive lines on the map.
The city itself is laid out in a broad, orderly grid of long straight roads, typical of Australian country towns.
