Spanaway Lake
The lake and its surrounding park are the clearest shape on the map: an open body of water edged by green space in the middle of the suburban grid.

El mapa
Spanaway Map Poster & Print
Spanaway is an unincorporated community in Pierce County, Washington, south of Tacoma. Its map is organised around Spanaway Lake and Pacific Avenue, the long state highway corridor that carries traffic north toward the city. Neighbourhoods fill the land on either side, a mix of curving cul-de-sacs and older rectangular blocks.
Spanaway Lake sits at the heart of the area, with a county park and a golf course near its shore. To the west, the edge of Joint Base Lewis-McChord shapes the map with large areas of open prairie and training land, so the residential streets stop abruptly at a long boundary. Many residents have ties to the base.
On clear days Mount Rainier dominates the view to the southeast, but on paper it is the lake, roads and subdivisions that set the tone. A Spanaway map poster shows a typical Puget Sound suburb: a body of water at the centre, a commercial spine, and a patchwork of neighbourhoods built in different decades.

The long highway corridor runs straight through the community. It is lined with commercial parcels and is the spine that connects Spanaway to Tacoma.
Base boundary
The edge of Joint Base Lewis-McChord forms a long, straight boundary beside the neighbourhoods, with large open areas where the streets simply stop.
