El mapa
Tasbuget Map Poster & Print
Tasbuget lies just outside Kyzylorda, the regional capital in southern Kazakhstan, close to the Syr Darya river. The surrounding land is flat and dry, and the river is its lifeline. The map is organized around water: the broad curves of the river and the straight channels that carry irrigation water out to the fields.
The settlement is laid out in regular blocks of low houses, a grid common across Central Asia, with wide streets and generous plots. At its edges the grid meets the rectangular pattern of irrigated fields, and the two line up with each other. This gives the whole area an unusually orderly look from above.
The Kyzylorda region is Kazakhstan's main rice-growing area, and the canals and fields around the river are part of that system. A Tasbuget map poster framed to include the river and fields shows how a settlement on the edge of the desert depends on water. The Syr Darya is the strongest natural line in the composition.

Regular blocks
Wide streets divide the settlement into even rectangular blocks of houses and gardens. The pattern reads clearly and calmly in fine black lines.
Irrigation canals
Straight channels carry river water out to the surrounding fields. They add long, thin lines that extend the grid of the settlement into the countryside.
