Termoli is the main coastal town of Molise, and its map is organised around a small headland pushing into the Adriatic. On that rock sits the Borgo Vecchio, the walled old village, with its cathedral and a Swabian castle associated with Frederick II. The harbour tucks in beside it, and from there the modern town spreads inland in a regular pattern of blocks.
The coastline shapes everything. Sandy beaches run north and south of the promontory in smooth curves, and the railway and coast road follow them closely. Inside the old walls the lanes are tight enough to vanish at small scales; one of them, the Rejecelle, is often cited among the narrowest streets in Italy. That dense knot against the open shore gives the drawing a strong focal point.
