Tournefeuille is on the western edge of Toulouse, in a part of Occitanie that grew quickly with the city's aerospace industry. Much of the town was built in the late twentieth century. From above, that shows as a field of residential neighbourhoods with winding streets and cul-de-sacs, grouped around a small historic centre.
The River Touch runs through the town from south to north on its way to the Garonne. Its banks are kept as a green corridor, with footpaths and parkland along the water, so on the map a soft band cuts through the housing. Lakes and open spaces add lighter patches elsewhere in the town.
A Tournefeuille map poster shows suburban France at its most orderly.
