Tseung Kwan O is one of Hong Kong's newest large towns, built from the 1980s onward around Junk Bay on the eastern side of Kowloon. Much of it stands on reclaimed land, and the map shows it. There are straight edges along the waterfront, the bay reaching into the middle of the town, and estates arranged in large, regular plots between the hills and the sea.
The MTR Tseung Kwan O line runs through the centre of the town and branches toward LOHAS Park. Each station is surrounded by its own cluster of residential towers and shopping podiums. Steep green hills rise on the western side and separate the new town from Kowloon, and the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel carries traffic through them.
The Cross Bay Link opened in 2022 as a bridge across the bay itself, and it gives the Tseung Kwan O map poster a new clean line over the water. The town is a clear example of Hong Kong planning: dense housing, generous waterfront promenades, and green hills never far from the last tower block.
