West Bridgford lies directly across the River Trent from Nottingham, joined to the city by Trent Bridge. From above it looks like a classic late Victorian and Edwardian suburb: long, straight residential roads running south from the river, with Central Avenue as the shopping street at its heart. The Trent curves along the northern edge, giving the town a clean, firm boundary on the map.
