Valley-following roads
Main roads trace the valley floors and stream courses, curving with the terrain. They give the map a flowing, irregular structure.

El mapa
West Torrington Map Poster & Print
West Torrington covers the western side of the Torrington area in Litchfield County, in the hilly northwest corner of Connecticut. Its map is typical of the region: roads follow the valleys and the curves of the hills rather than a grid, residential streets loop through wooded slopes, and the houses sit more loosely the farther out you go.
Water is a quiet presence in the plan. Streams and a branch of the Naugatuck River drain these hills, and the roads often run beside them, since the valley floors were the easiest routes to build. In between, the higher ground stays largely wooded, which leaves broad open spaces on the page between the lines of streets.
A West Torrington map poster suits the region's understated character. There is no dramatic skyline here, only the pattern of roads bending around the land, and in black and white that pattern has a hand-drawn quality that rewards a closer look.

Wooded high ground
Hills between the valleys hold fewer streets. On the print they become calm open areas that balance the denser neighbourhoods.
Looping residential streets
Suburban streets wind and loop across the slopes. Their shapes are distinctive and read well at larger print sizes.

Per què West Torrington
Un mapa amb significat
People hang this kind of map for the ordinary places that matter most, such as the road they grew up on, the house they bought or the town they return to each autumn. The curving New England roads make a quiet, attractive print.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a street name or a year, and choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Buy the $9 digital files to print locally, or order a matte poster with an optional wooden frame.
