El mapa
Willmar Map Poster & Print
Willmar is the county seat of Kandiyohi County in west-central Minnesota, a region of prairie dotted with lakes. The city began as a railroad town, and the map still shows it: a regular grid of streets aligned with the tracks, a downtown near the rail line, and residential blocks spreading outward in straight rows.
Water breaks up this grid. Foot Lake and Willmar Lake sit right next to the city, and their rounded outlines interrupt the rectangular blocks, turning some streets into curved lakeshore drives. Farther out are other lakes and wetlands, typical of the landscape left by glaciers in this part of the state.
A Willmar map poster brings the straight lines of the railroad grid and the curves of the lakes together. The city is also home to the headquarters of Jennie-O, the turkey producer, and its processing and industrial areas add larger shapes to the edges. The result is a clear view of a working prairie town.

Foot Lake and Willmar Lake
Two lakes lie right beside the city, and their rounded outlines bend the grid into lakeshore drives and waterfront parks.
Prairie lakes
Beyond the city limits, more lakes and wetlands are scattered across the farmland, typical of the glacial landscape of west-central Minnesota.
